Bowman card guides

How this market actually works — written from the rules our own analysis engine enforces, not from hobby folklore. Everything here applies whether or not you ever use the product.

What the card actually is

Before anything else: which product it came from, whether the 1st Bowman logo is really on it, what the parallel is, and whether that autograph was signed on the card or stuck to it. Every other question depends on getting this one right, and a listing title is not evidence.

Whether the player is worth owning

A prospect card is a bet on a person. What a stat line says at each level, what a scouting grade does and does not claim, the honest base rates for prospects reaching the majors, and when a card's price is most likely to peak.

What it is worth, and how we know

The evidence question. Which sales count, why five sales of one card disagree by fifty dollars, and why a listing that vanished is not a sale no matter how much you would like it to be.

Condition, grading and population

Whether to send a card away, which grader to send it to, the surface flaws Chrome hides until the card is in your hand, and why a low print run stops meaning much once the graded population catches up with it.

Doing the deal

The money at the edges: what to offer and whether a human will ever read it, what a sale actually pays you after fees, and how much a seller's feedback can and cannot tell you before you commit.
